Our Missionaries - The Buursmas
Natives of Michigan, Tom & Kristin Buursma moved to the Philippines in January, 2002. After spending about 2 years in language school, the Buursmas moved to the island of Catanduanes to become part of a multi-cultural team doing church-planting work in the northern part of the island. There, they work in the town of Payo, getting to know people in the community, starting Bible studies, and helping to train future church leaders. Their team's goal is to plant a community of mission-minded house churches that will reach out to the community of Payo, to the island of Catanduanes, and eventually, to the world. Now in their second missionary term, Tom & Kristin enjoy being a part of the Payo community, and they are thrilled to see new believers starting and leading new Bible studies of their own. Tom & Kristin's family life has changed substantially since their arrival in the Philippines, with the births of 3 daughters, and they have been blessed as God has used their family to minister to the people of Payo. Please join Tom & Kristin in praying for a Godly community of house churches to be firmly established in Payo, grounded in the truth of the Gospel and filled with servant leaders.
